The good news is that I have my M.S.Ed in Educational Technology, and I now know a great deal more about enhancing the curriculum through technology. Another good thing is that my Masters Thesis on the research I conducted at The School at Columbia is a part of ERIC, a teacher resource with the U.S. Dept. of Education.
The sad news is that I will not be returning to P.S. 83 in September 2006. I was offered a new position as a Literacy Coach with the Reading First program in another school and another region. I will be working for the NYCBOE in Region 9, Distrct 7 at a parochial school in the south Bronx. During my stay with the K-3 teachers at the Immaculate Conception School, one of my major responsibilities is to teach the teachers at this site the Best Practices in teaching reading that I learned as an Internal Consultant in Communication Arts with Region 2 in District 11. I will also be learning some new things and using technology tools such as the Palm Pilot and the Blackberry.
I shall miss you and Ms. Joann Cioffi. I will always be grateful to her for accepting me into her classroom and allowing us to practice the new ideas in educational technology presented by Theresa Lupo from Fordham University's Regional Educational Technology Program (RETC).
I certainly hope you are always interested and curious about using the technology tools that were introduced to you by Theresa and me. I certainly hope that we get another opportunity to work together again in the near future.
Keep reaching for the stars out there on the Net!
